A dental bridge is a custom-made false tooth (or teeth), that is permanently placed between two healthy teeth, filling in the area left by a missing tooth.
In this mini-movie a bridge was used to replace a missing tooth – and improve the overall appearance of the teeth…
If you’ve lost a tooth, a bridge becomes very important because the missing tooth can cause serious problems for the neighboring teeth. That’s because the support and chewing forces are altered, so the remaining teeth may begin to shift. And the opposing tooth (the one above or below the missing tooth) can begin to move up or down and out of the socket. This can lead to gum disease and can further break down the bone structure. Not good!
If the missing tooth isn’t replaced, you may lose more teeth because of the improper forces being applied during chewing.
